Minisforum UM773 Lite — Surprisingly Capable Little Server
I’ve been using the Minisforum UM773 Lite as my primary home server, and I’ve been extremely impressed with what this little machine can do.
The UM773 Lite gives you a lot of computer for the size and price. Mine is running Ubuntu Server and has become the main system for several of my home-lab services, including Docker containers, Pi-hole, Nextcloud, monitoring, and other applications. It has handled everything I’ve thrown at it without feeling underpowered.
The Ryzen processor provides plenty of performance for a home server, while the small form factor makes it easy to tuck away almost anywhere. It also uses considerably less space and power than a traditional desktop or server, which is a big advantage for a machine that is intended to run 24/7.
One thing I particularly like is the flexibility of the system. It has enough performance and expandability to be much more than just a basic mini PC. With additional storage and memory, it can make an excellent home server, virtualization box, media server, or general-purpose Linux machine.

What Could Be Better
The biggest limitation is simply the physical size of the machine. You have to be more thoughtful about storage and expansion than you would with a conventional desktop or larger server.
I also wouldn’t expect this little box to replace a dedicated high-end workstation or enterprise server. That’s not really what it’s designed for. But for a home lab, small business services, development, Docker, file services, monitoring, and similar workloads, it is remarkably capable.
Overall
After using the UM773 Lite as an actual production/home-server machine rather than just a desktop PC, I can confidently say that it has exceeded my expectations.
It has become one of those systems that you set up, turn on, and forget about because it simply does its job.
For anyone looking for a compact, inexpensive, and powerful machine for a home lab, Linux server, Docker environment, NAS-related projects, or general experimentation, I think the UM773 Lite is an excellent choice.

The Minisforum UM773 Lite barebones really did get the job done. Adding an M.2 NVMe 1TB SSD as well as a 2,5 SATA III 1TB SSD was very easy and intuitive. The So-Dimm memory install of the 32GB DDR5 kit was a snap. And the built-in Radeon 680M graphics is pretty good. A great buy at an amazing price for the refurbished model. Only two quirks. Can't get set the XMP on the memory, so my DDR5 5600 is downclocked to 4800 mt/s. And you have to remove the rubber feet in order to access the interior. When that happened, the adhesive on one of the small feet gave out and was lost. I use the stand it came with, so it isn't a real big deal. Otherwise, I would have marked 5 stars. But I'm still a very happy owner and enjoy its portability for travel. I prefer this with a portable monitor, keyboard, and mouse instead of a laptop.
